Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are deploying to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, after multiple confirmed tornadoes touched down in the area as part of a severe weather system that swept across the southern part of the country.
Many homes were destroyed and more than 12,000 were without power after storms downed trees and power lines across the region.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the devastation that this severe storm system caused in Tuscaloosa and across the southern United States,” said Josh Holland, assistant director of the BG-RRT. “The message of the Bible is that God is a God of hope, no matter what the natural circumstances are. His supernatural love can meet us in the middle of our greatest pain and we are honored to share that with people. Even when there are no words, our crisis-trained chaplains have the opportunity to be a physical presence for people who are grieving.”
BG-RRT chaplains also deployed to central Alabama after a January tornado, and have responded to nine disaster sites since Jan. 1, 2021.

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team was developed by Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
